The only gas giant in the Colu system, Clak'Dor V's atmosphere is rich in oxygen and hydrogen. Given the frequent storms often seen from space, many scientists think that there is an extraordinarily large amount of water vapor in the atmosphere.

Clak'Dor V had originally been a part of the New Republic's efforts to revive the homeworld of the Bith. Fast-moving transports were deployed to trap as much atmosphere as possible within their holds and then transport the gasses to the devastated world of Clak'Dor VII. The idea was scrapped after one of the transports attempting the operation was caught within a storm. The intensity of the storm was enough to overload the shields of the transport and compromise the hull within seconds. The hydrogen already trapped within the holds of the craft exploded, igniting the gases around the transport. It was deemed too dangerous for any other transport to attempt any further pick-ups and the atmosphere idea was scrapped.

Clak'Dor V is considered a very important part of Bith history. It was originally discovered long before the Bith attempted space travel, spotted by astronomers from the surface of the world. It was originally confused for a star but later identified as a planet. The actual exploration was a disappointment to the Bith as they had believed Clak'Dor V to be the planet of a great god that watched closely over their own world.
