'Like Herglic on Mrlssi' as the saying goes, the Mrlssi are a small scholarly race of flightless birds of the Tapani sector renowned for their academic and technological prowess. Less than a mere meter in height, the advanced avians are known for their quick wit and curiosity, greatly valuing knowledge. Although young Mrlssti are of drab grey and brown color, as individuals increase in age (and hopefully sagacity) the feathers of their head likewise increase into a bright display. Although Mrlssi were first contacted by Tapani scouts long after the formation of the Galactic Republic, the species were able to reverse-engineer hyperdrives and modern computers, and were soon on par with the rest of the galaxy. Although the Mrlssi have entered to some extent into the larger galaxy, as records indicate high enrollment in the Jedi Order, many of the species discovered to be Force-sensitive, they have kept to themselves for the post part Historically Mrlssi are not particularly adventurous as a species and have stayed out of most of the galactic conflicts. Today, their home planet Mrlsst attracts many species due to their prestigious universities. Mrlssi can indeed be found off their homeworld, but this is often as hired technological specialists for large government bodies. Due to their academic penchant, the continual cultural isolation of the species still presents itself in exotic ways. The Mrlsii hold humor highly in their society and their native tongue is considered very musical. Nonetheless due to such cultural disparity from the rest of the galaxy, Offworlders find their jokes dizzingly complex and unintelligible; and their vocalized Basic, tryingly grating.
