Hailing from the frozen Deep Core world of Ojom, Besalisks are a species of hardy multi-armed humanoids. The males strictly have four arms, but females are known to have up to eight. To make up for the extra arms, Besalisks are able to store food in order to fuel their substantial metabolisms, causing them to be the perfect build for surviving the frozen oceans and fast winds of their planet. The glaciers found on Ojom act as the foundation of Besalisk communities, despite many other species finding the climate inhospitable. For off worlders, the Besalisks have constructed multiple stations built in orbit to act as starports, trading hubs, and temporary living space. Being descendants of avians, Besalisks have a head full of feathers and a thick crest on their forehead that the males use for mating rituals. Like humans, Besalisks have one dominant hand and can perform medial tasks with their others. Some that train to be proficient in all their appendages have become some of the galaxy's most sought after mercenaries or mechanics. Because of the extra appendages, a heavy diet was maintained by all members of the species. Over time, they grew the ability to keep food or water in storage organs found near their stomachs. This capability also comes in handy in the harsh environment of their home planet. Lining their mouths are patches of sensory whiskers that assists with finding food on Ojom. As the sarcastic galactic saying goes, "Like a Besalisk in the Rotunda," it is a known fact that Besalisks make an avid attempt to avoid politics at all times. Instead of having representatives in the Senate, they chose instead to allow the galaxy to revolve around them while they kept to themselves. However, they are one of the most social and talkative species in the galaxy. They are very hasty to form friendships, both positive and negative. Fearless, Besalisks are also great information brokers because of their wide array of friends and proneness to gossip. They have been known to take the saying "Loose lips sink spaceships" to an entirely new level.
