The Kaleesh are reptilian in nature, hailing from the world of Kalee. A typical Kaleesh has an orange hued skin, varying between red and yellow. Its possible that this is an evolutionary holdover from beginnings in desert environments. Each of their hands have two opposable thumbs, giving them great dexterity when using tools and weapons. In addition to their eyes, the Kaleesh have thermal pits just below, that give them enhanced perception in darkened areas, possibly hinting at a nocturnal past for their race prior to becoming sentient. They also have tusks protruding from their upper jaw, with smaller ones emerging from their chin. However, much of a Kaleesh's face will be hidden behind a mask that is traditionally worn, and very few outsiders get the chance to see one without their mask.
The Kaleesh are a tribal race, with wars between neighbouring tribes not uncommon. These almost continual assaults stem from the deep-seated emphasis on honour and vengeance, and is considered a vital practice for the well being of the race. However, if a threat arrives that risks their entire race, inter-tribal warfare is put aside until the species is once again safe to war amongst themselves.
The Kaleesh are a male-dominated society, with each male usually having a harem of several wives, and many, many children. Due to this, and their warlike nature, the Kaleesh have a deep seated belief that warriors who perform extraordinary deeds become gods after their death. Temples are scattered all over the planet paying homage to the many gods their belief has created. Abesmi is a huge rock in the middle of a Jenuwaa Sea where the gods ascended to the heavens, and many pilgrims travel there each year.

Kalee is a strangely uninhabited planet. Its very stable and calm climate would be extremely suitable for most species in the universe. The temperature is remarkably constant, keeping this planet in a neverchanging state. The northern polarcap is not affected by warm gulfstreams or cold periods. The planet is mainly covered with vast plains of grass, encircling a central forest with a very dense jungle as its heart. There are no winds on Kalee, which contributes to its almost perfect status. The biggest variation in the height of the terrain comes from two mountains up north, on the edge of the polarcap. The reason for Kalee not being inhabited is still unknown; explanations are all based on subjective information, ranging from suggested piracy, its possible lack of minerals or its location being too far from traderoutes: no recorded proof has been given why this planet has remained untouched.
