Simplistic in design, the tactical helmet features a hard upper casing made of tough material that helps to protect against low grade projectile and energy weaponry, while also providing a dampener against blunt trauma. A visor that is hard mounted to the front of the helmet protects the face and eyes, or other sensory receptors in that region. A pivoting chin strap, adjustable, keeps the helmet on and provides additional mounting surface for aftermarket communications gear.
The tactical helmet's visor comes with limited heads up display (HUD) features, all of which are projected into the wearer's eye so as not to obstruct available viewing area. Basic identification friend or foe (IFF) symbols and locations are displayed within line-of-sight, including area-of-interest indicators or target points to facilitate combat maneuvers. Additional gear, like helmet communications or more sophisticated HUD features, must be added by the wearer. This makes the tactical helmet a favorite baseline model chosen by units and then customized based on their mission.
