During the decline of the Galactic Republic, the reputable MerenData security corporation introduced the EV-series Supervisor Droid as a departure from their archetypal espionage line. Designed primarily as a labor pool overseer, EVs assign droids to work details, manage charging and upkeep schedules, and apply correctional measures when necessary. With some slight modifications, the EVs were also capable of managing supplies or performing mechanical maintenance. Ironically, it was a logistical error that caused illicit MDF motivators for a clandestine torture droid contract to be delivered to the EV-series droid foundries by mistake. While the sadistic algorithms actually made the EV-series Supervisor Droid outperform its own specifications, the overseer's manifest cruelty caused the company's illegal activities to be exposed. Not all customers complained, however, and MerenData even offered to pay informants but was never able to recall every unit.
These third-degree droids are distinguished by their oblong heads and speech flaps. This flap mimics the vocabulator, which is positioned just behind binocular photoreceptors. A bulge at the back of the head houses the heuristic logic circuits alongside broadband communications hardware. Cervical and pelvic servomotors drive cast durasteel limbs, and while bipedal configuration is the most practical, the pelvic servos can also drive an optional tracked base. The arms feature dexterous servogrip pincers which enable the EV-series to interact with precision. The plastron encloses a binary comlink that permits the overseer to network with large numbers of droids simultaneously. The power axis and interface couplings are mounted in the lower torso, and the entire unit is coated with a soft bronze finish. EV-series Supervisor Droids left the factory programmed to speak Basic and Binary, with the ability to learn up to three additional language routines.
