Designed from the outset by Kuat Vehicles to be sold as an add-on for starships, the Undicur-class jumpspeeder is a collapsible, repulsorlift-equipped vehicle meant to provide an easy-to-stow, no-frills vehicle for starship crews to engage in short hops away from the ship. The speeder bike has a fairly conventional layout, with the pilot seated above and in front of the main engine and repulsorlift projectors, with small stowage bins to the rear, and the controls and steering veins/ailerons in front of the pilot. In order to make the bike as compact as possible, Kuat's engineers dispensed with the long front boom arrangement typically seen on speeder bikes and put the steering veins close to the pilot - in fact, they serve as the pilot's footrests.

A vehicle with minimal comforts, the Undicur-class jumpspeeder boasts only average performance for a vehicle in its class. Where it excels is in its rugged reliability, ease of manufacture, and economical cost - factors that made it an ideal vehicle for the wartime needs of the Galactic Republic. During the Clone Wars, this class of speeder bike saw widespread use in the Grand Army of the Republic, especially amongst the Jedi commanding the battalions of clone troopers - so much so, in fact, that it gained the sobriquet "Jedi jumpspeeder". While production of the vehicle has since ceased, they remain a fairly common sight throughout the galaxy.
