Planet: Savareen
Table of Contents [hide]

The planet Savareen - meaning 'blue jewel' in an extinct, ancient language native to the planet - is a world of vast bodies of water and few landmasses, the largest being a small continent of prairie grasslands and rolling hills on the northern hemisphere. Small forested islands and tropical archipelagos, sheltering the world's terrestrial forms of life from being swallowed by the deep blue waters and the fearsome hunters it hides, continuously battle the tides of Savareen's occasionally storm-tossed oceans for their continued existence.

Most forms of life on the planet are marine in nature and are known to take on colossal sizes. In the past, the seaside villages and towns would often take to venerating these creatures as living deities, with some believed to be benevolent and others feared as demonic and destructive in nature. With the rising population and urbanisation of the planet, most of the marine fauna retreated deep into the oceans, with the cy'een being one of the few animals that regularly made appearances closer to the water's surface throughout the ages.

Archaeological evidence suggests that Savareen had once been inhabited by a technologically advanced sentient species, yet all trace of them has disappeared except for the ruins of their once-great cities on the northern continent. Later, during the era known as the High Republic, the planet was rediscovered and settled by various aquatic and amphibian species like the Nautolans, Quarrens and Mon Calamari, while races such as the Humans, Rodians, and Twi’leks established settlements on the few habitable land masses on its surface. Despite this, the planet garnered little interest after its initial colonisation wave and remained a small peripheral world in the Outer Rim throughout the centuries that followed.

In recent times, an ambitious urbanisation project, launched by a number of enterprising investors from the Outer Rim, saw Savareen slowly turn into a small but prospering commercial and industrial hub. With the aid of brilliant engineers, vast cities were erected on the deep blue waters of the planet, while most of the islands and small continents became covered in a glistening urban sprawl. As a result, the less fortunate citizens from nearby worlds and systems were drawn to Savareen in the hope of starting a new, better life, with the planet itself coming to be synonymous with second chances.
