Planet: Rodia
Table of Contents [hide]

The planet Rodia is the emerald and sapphire gem of the Tyrius system. It is a world of lush, tropical jungles and rainforests that shelter myriad lifeforms, both sentient and non-sentient, beneath their magnificent canopy, while marine predators lurk within the oceans’ deep blue depths. Much of Rodia's surface is covered with water that often flows deep into the primary landmass in the form of mangroves or beneath the cities of the planet as reservoirs of freshwater. Many aquatic and amphibian creatures have made their home within the warm waters of the Rodiak Ocean or the clear deep blue of the Wesessa Sea, such as the large, bio-luminescent predator known as the kwazel maw or the eel-like svapers that constrict their prey and seize them with their needle teeth. Despite the apparent danger that the svapers pose, the natives of Rodia are known to engage with these creatures in wrestling competitions, which are treated as a competitive sport on the planet.

The densely forested land mass stretching vertically across the equator - its northern half called Encheeko while its southern part is known as Betu - is inhabited by a plethora of flora and fauna, with notable examples being the large, winged insectoid can-cells, with their six spindly legs, or the horrifying reptilian ghests, which have been colloquially dubbed "swamp demons" for their monstrous appearance. Similarly, creatures that appear across the galaxy have also found their way onto Rodia, such as the crystal snake, originally native to Yavin IV, or a sub-species of acklay that came to thrive within the planet's jungles. It is because of this abundance of predatory lifeforms on the planet that Rodia is a favoured location for game hunters and brave individuals yearning to test themselves against the dangers of the wilderness.

Yet the true masters of this warm, tropical world are the long-snouted, green-skinned, reptilian sentients called Rodians. For eons, these people have braved the natural dangers of their homeworld as they competed with the jungle predators for food sources and living space due to Rodia’s lack of arable land. They have built vast domed cities near natural reservoirs of freshwater to shelter their people against the myriad dangers that loom in the surrounding jungles. They built a society divided into various clans, which were all led by the Grand Protector of the Rodians, who historically ruled from the capital city of Iskaayuma, located the northern half of the primary landmass. Today, Rodia has grown into an industrial and highly cultured world in the Outer Rim that has attracted many species from across the galaxy to its bubble-domed metropolises over the course of millennia. Races like the Humans, Twi’leks, Bothans, Issori and even Hutts have found a new home on the Rodian homeworld or on one of its four lunar companions.
