Planet: Tythe
Table of Contents [hide]

When consulting historical records from several decades before the Clone Wars, it would be almost impossible to believe Tythe's descriptions as a lush, verdant world of resplendent lake countries and magnificent greenery, renowned to have been on par with the natural beauty of Naboo. Today, the planet of Tythe is an arid desert globe where most of the moisture and water are locked deep within the soil, or located in sheltered caverns and underground oases. Whereas its surface was once said to be teeming with life, the world's native fauna now consists of small rodents and hardy insects, as well as animal species introduced from offworld, such as the bantha or dewback.

In the centuries prior to its environmental devastation, Tythe had been a popular world among the nobility and upper class citizenry of the Outer Rim, who had established vast properties and resorts along the myriad of lakes and rivers dotting the planet's surface. Yet in 42 BCGT, an energy and manufacturing business called LiMerge Power had acquired mining rights to parts of Tythe's northern hemisphere, where vast plasma reserves had been found. With no regard for safety or environmental regulations, the company began a reckless strip mining operation that resulted in the cataclysmic implosion of its plasma refineries several months later. As a result, a mass extinction of flora and fauna followed, and everyone but LiMerge Power abandoned the planet entirely. For several years thereafter, the company continued to deplete Tythe's resources until it, too, left the planet as an arid desert wasteland.

While still breathable and habitable, the planet is not a comfortable place for those species that have evolved in more temperate or cooler climates. As such, over the decades, Tythe attracted settlers from similar worlds, such as the Twi'leks from tidally-locked Ryloth or the Zabrak from arid Iridonia. They formed small settlements around the few remaining bodies of water, or within caverns that still harboured hidden oases. The arrival of a new government on the planet saw the rise of several more sophisticated cities in the northern hemisphere, close to where LiMerge Power had once established its headquarters. Yet any hope for the restoration of Tythe's environment is as fleeting as the sands that sweep across its dunes and dried-up basins.
