The legendary, endless swamps of Abraxin are a distant memory in the present. No longer is its surface covered in murky, damp wetlands, and no longer do the Force-using, red-eyed marsh haunts prowl just beneath the shallow waters. Today, the swamps and marshes have been largely drained, their predators and game locked within carefully controlled reserves, and most of the planet’s surface has been turned into a grand ecumenopolis and cosmopolitan hub in the Tion Cluster.

Abraxin had been discovered and settled long before the formation of the Galactic Republic, and was a member state of Xim the Despot’s empire. Later, after the empire’s fall, Abraxin joined the nascent Republic, yet had always maintained close ties with the successor states to Xim’s empire, such as the Kingdom of Cron, the Jaminere Marches, and the Honourable Union of Desevro & Tion. Over the millennia that followed, Abraxin saw slow but gradual growth as the humans of the nearby Tion Cluster immigrated to the planet, followed by other sentient species such as the cold-blooded reptilian Barabels or the amphibian Nautolans from Glee Anselm. To this day, Abraxin is home to large and thriving communities of these sentients.

During the Clone Wars, Abraxin seceded from the Republic and joined the Separatist cause. As a result, the planet was punished economically in the years that followed, which brought about a period of economic decline. Later, after the Tion Hegemony had established itself as the Tion Cluster's dominant political force, Abraxin became the focal point of a large-scale urbanisation project that had transformed the planet into a proud, cosmopolitan world of opportunity and wealth.
