Planet Farffin in the Farffin System, of the sector by that same name, is the homeworld of the sentient species the Farghul. The Farghul are a felinoid race about 1'8 to 2'4 meters in height with long agile tails, and a tawny fur covering their bodies. The female Farghuls, who are naturally larger than the males, are the dominant sex in Farghul society. The females, with a few select males, form Clans or Qua'reesh for the purpose of protection, hunting, and producing young. Indeed being a part of Qua'reesh is almost required when living on Farffin because of the many large and dangerous predators.

Even the Marsluk, the primary food animal for the Farghul, can be a deadly foe when encountered. With its 3 large horns and extremely thick skin, this animal is almost as dangerous as the predators that hunt it, charging and impaling any unwary hunter. Known predators besides the Farghul include the Qre'nar a large carnivorous bird of prey, and the Fej'kul, a close but nonsentient cousin of the Farghul.

Adding to the natural dangers on this planet is an unnatural one, the smugglers, who live in small hidden cities on the north and southern continents. Bringing with them everything from drugs to diseases, smugglers are one of the largest causes of death among the Farghul. Currently, smuggling activity on the surface of Farffin has gone down due to local attempts by many outcast Farghul males to form a coherent government in the swamplands near the southern continent.
