Hemei II is a planet locked in ice, and the only arctic planet in the Hemei System to evolve any form of life. The surface of the planet is one large continent with no oceans, very much like its sister planet Hemei I in the same system. However, this planet does possess something its sister does not, a curious life form called the Delcut. The Delcut is a reptilian species of herbivore, with four limbs and a short tail. This lizard-like animal, which has evolved over many thousands of centuries, mostly when the planet was lush and more hospitable, has adapted in a strange way to the devastation caused by the numerous impacts of rogue asteroids and meteors. It seems the Delcut has evolved the ability to burn itself to the point of death on a daily basis without dying. Indeed all of the subject animals the scientists came across where covered with hundreds of burn scars, proving this animal has an amazing ability to regenerate damage.

When the planet started cooling due to the heavy layer atmospheric dust kicked up by the most recent of many meteor impacts, the Delcut started migrating to the many active volcanic openings located around the planet. These rivers of molten lava and rock served to keep a portion of the Delcut population alive and in the years since it has evolved to the point where it requires these flows to survive. Indeed scientists predict that in a few hundred years when the planet starts to warm itself again, this resilient species will most likely die.
