Adarlon is situated at a suitable distance from its sun to support a lush and pristine world. Large oceans grant it very amiable conditions for most sentients, with a variety of weather. Extreme conditions are present, such as earthquakes around the southern continent, but overall, Adarlon is very near to the ideal for many races. The exploitation of the planet's resources has yet to occur, but many economists feel it is only a matter of time before they are tapped into.
The lush vegetation of the small southern continent hides animal life of great abundance in both amount and variety. Many species native to the area are not found anywhere else in the galaxy, not even on the other two continents of this planet. The second smallest continent bisects the oceans of Adarlon; it is relatively thin but extends lengthwise north to south across most of the world's diameter. It is mainly mountainous terrain, with approximately the same total area as the southern continent and even thicker forests and jungles covering the alpine slopes. Its steep, rocky coastlines are almost inaccessible to ordinary vehicles. The third and final continent is also its largest. Consisting of the planet's major ice field, the only comfortable living areas are the massive plains that sandwich the glacial fields.
The world is a major tourist haven, with many people coming for the peace and tranquillity that such a paradise induces. While others come for the wide variety of water-based entertainment, such as the annual Adarlon Oceanic Race that involves any and all types of watercraft racing around a pre-set course that takes in all the oceans of the planet. Navigational skill is paramount since the race route passes very close to the shores of the central continent, and a previously unplotted rip or current could force the vehicle onto the rocks and trees surrounding the coastline.
Adarlon was originally colonized by refugees from the core, seeking a new place to live. It was chosen mainly for its beautiful panoramas, rather than for any inherent resources, in the way that many mountainous planets are. Since these colonists were well-funded, their society had no need to focus on survival, and allowed them to immerse themselves in entertainment; it was on Adarlon that holograms first became a staple form of entertainment, as opposed to being merely a communication device. In addition to this, many consider that the music composed and played within the planet's many operas and orchestras to be some of the most beautiful and sophisticated in all the galaxy. Regardless of who controls it, life on the planet has not changed much at all. In fact, if anything, tourism has increased over time, and life has never been better for the residents.
