Last Updated: Year 25 Day 170
Planet: Herios IV
Table of Contents [hide]

Compared to its sister worlds in the Herios system, Herios IV is a world blessed with a calm and gentle climate, abundant sunshine and ample rain. It is said that clothing is optional on Herios IV, as the weather is warm, but not hot, the sunlight illuminates, but does not burn, and the soft breezes cool, but do not chill. Rain falls in predictable patterns all around the world, a world of old, weathered mountains, and vast blue oceans. So inviting is the world’s weather and so beautiful the native vistas, that the system’s government decreed that the world serve as a vast holiday resort and entertainment focus for the billions of workers toiling in the factories, mines and farms of the other planets within the system.

The governing body for the Herios system has implemented a system of rotating vacations for the massive work forces on Herios I and Herios II, allowing for each worker to have an annual 10 day paid vacation of Herios IV together with their families. To enable these vacationing families to escape the claustrophobic confines of their home worlds, Herios IV sports a network of vacation towns well spaced out from each other, with the facilities maintained by a permanent staff of organic, as well as droid workers, with significant amounts of automation – so much so that vacationing families can actually avoid contact with any being, whether living or mechanical, if they stay close to their holiday accommodations.

Typical holiday activities include day long speeder tours of the mountains, as well as fishing in the deep waters around the many floating vacation towns. Large predators, as well as any organisms that pose a threat to sentient life, have been systematically eradicated, and colourful, harmless species imported to add to the beauty of the vacation towns. It is common to see small colourful birds and mammals right outside the doors and windows of the holiday homes and apartments, with dedicated feeder boxes often installed to allow children to closely observe brilliantly hued hummingbirds, doves, finches and other types of flying animals feeding and socialising. It is often heard amongst the workers on Herios I and II that the annual getaway of Herios IV makes their lives worth living.
