Velser’s Ring is an asteroid belt that has an elliptical orbit, thus causing it to pass through the orbit of Bespin, Orin, and Miser occasionally. This asteroid belt, which is home to space slugs and mynocks, has accumulated over the years as the gravity of the sun has attracted many asteroids into orbit. Even smugglers don’t dare venture into the asteroid belt, for fear of destroying their ship. This asteroid field is named after the man who discovered it, Sir Richard Velser, whose ship made it through the asteroid field with ease. Unfortunately, Richard Velser disappeared on a trip to Orin and was never heard from again.
