A planet of prosperity and wealth, Thrakia is one of the more civilized planets in the Hapes Cluster. Known for its deep oceans, calming rivers and peaceful forests, the temperate world has become a thriving ecumenopolis. The planet is often seen as a virtual heaven and a favorite tourist location for the people of the Hapes Cluster.
However, the planet was once the location of an event of great tragedy and suffering. In the Hapan year 621, it was the origin of the Gormothian Plague, which infected nearly all living things upon Thrakia. It claimed the lives of millions of sentient beings, including Queen-Mother Arxianic X, and caused the near extinction of many types of flora and fauna, turning the planet into an almost desolate wasteland.
It is believed that the Thrakians, an intelligent insectoid species native to Thrakia, were rendered extinct due to the Gormothian Plague. Whether that belief is true or not is unknown, as no evidence of them remains for scientific study. It is suspected that they communicated through pheromones and a language based upon mandible clicking. Though the language was only developed one century before the Gormothian Plague, some evidence suggests that they performed certain movements with their unique jawbones that may have been stunning to predators and foes.
Over the thousands of years that passed, the environment recovered from the destruction caused by the plague. In the Hapan year 4033, the king of the Hapes Cluster, Jessy James I, brought life and hope to a planet of death and despair. In a massive operation using the talents of Hapans from every walk of life, the dream they sought became a reality; the successful creation of a self-sustaining metropolis that spanned the entire planet. Through meticulous planning, the natural beauty of Thrakia was preserved, with traditional Hapan architecture carefully blended together with the existing flora and fauna. Today, Thrakia provides the needs for billions of Hapan citizens who are able to live comfortably alongside nature, a perfect example of Hapan modernism. This unique solution allows for a peaceful and harmonious setting to work and live in, cherishing beauty in true Hapan style.
