Wet, luscious forests and plains cover the planet of Mindor. The trees are acclimated to the terrain which tends to be flooded for most of the year: their lives begin among the branches of other trees to avoid being drowned by the flooding and it may be several years until their roots reach the ground. This strange growth mechanism also leads to the trees becoming entangled - hundreds of trees form a single colony which can stretch for several hundred meters. The natives of Mindor live primitively and mostly along the equatorial continent although they spend the majority of their life on flat-bottom boats which grow much like the native trees as their families expand. They produce many ethnic crafts using the leathery skins of the carnivorous fish which inhabit the oceans that tend to fetch exorbitant prices off-world, especially on nearby Taspan II.
