Holding the dubious honor of being the most volcanically active world in the Brentaal system, Javaal is a world awash in steaming and blackened surfaces, most of which are unable to support so much as the weight of a single human. Several hundred volcanoes and magma vents of various sizes exist across the surface of Javaal, and all of them spew more material onto the surface on an almost daily basis. From this very same activity, however, comes the few inhabitable portions of Javaal, most of which consist of formerly active portions of the volcanic ranges, now extinct. Warranting special note, in terms of mitigating the heating effects of the massive lava fields is the distance which Javaal orbits from its sun -- quite nearly as far out as the gas giant Cavas. Orbiting quite rapidly, despite the distance, the planet bulges out at the equator due to a deep layer of semi-liquid lava before tapering back to a much more spherical shape near the poles. Javaal is sparsely populated, mainly by isolationists from the nearby system of Chandrila, and most of its usable landmass is gently sloped in one direction or another as a result of sitting on the surface of ancient shield volcanoes. Rich and fertile grasslands have been supplanted by fields in some areas by colonists, but the native vegetation is made up of a variety of aggressive species which make cultivating most crops difficult. One of the native grasses, in particular, is capable of invading and overgrowing several square meters of field over the course of a single afternoon and, even after decades of attempts to neutralize it, still presents a problem for the farmers.
