Some worlds within the galactic plane have a notorious pull to them - a seductive allure drawing in those aligned with the Dark Side of the Force. Vjun is one such planet, steeped in turbulent and violent energies. This aspect is made manifest by the prevalence of volcanically active stretches of land, oozing glowing hot lava across its surface like bleeding wounds. It is as if the currents of molten rock churning deep beneath the planetary surface respond to this world’s alignment within the Force, endeavouring to rip apart its very own surface in a crescendo of violent passion. Despite this, stretches of hardy forestlands weave between the landscapes of ash and rivers of molten rock like snakes slithering through the dirt, absorbing nutrients from the mineral rich soil. The trees populating these areas are not beautiful, however, and instead are yet another testament to the very nature of the planet: gnarled and twisted branches reaching up into the sky like hands begging for respite, or in their desperation attempting to seize the sky itself.
Yet, if one were to think that the climate of Vjun reflects its scalding volcanic nature, one would be mistaken. Instead, it is a pervasive cold that holds the planet in its grip, leaving its mark upon the oft frosted leaves and grass tips. Even the swathes of desertland, once barely populated but now a bustling urbanscape, hold little to no warmth and leave one to look upon their own breath during the long nights. This forced the local flora and fauna to adapt to the biting cold, leaving the gundarks and nexu with thick coats of fur, while plants and trees developed more coriaceous leaves, to better ward off the chill and to conserve more water. After all, with a hydrosphere primarily consisting of ice and underground geothermally heated natural reservoirs, water is a sparse resource on this planet.
This did not dissuade the ancient Sith from seeking refuge on this fierce world after the fall of their empire as a result of the Great Hyperspace War. They established tribal settlements and shamanistic societies that soon attracted others from beyond Vjun, leading to the gradual disappearance of the original Sith on this celestial orb, but not their culture and beliefs. Its hereditary nobility would often adhere to the teachings of the Sith, preserving their tenets and values by passing them down to future generations. This root of the Dark Side didn’t remain contained to this world alone. During the age of the Old Republic, Vjun aristocracy married into Tapani nobility, bringing with them the teachings that would eventually corrupt the original Mecrosa Order into a Sith cult.
To this day, the reaches of Vjun’s habitable land are dotted with cities and settlements, some more advanced than others. It is especially within the smaller rural communities where the followers of the old ways continue to thrive, harbouring self-styled witches, shamans, and Sith cults. The nobility holds sway over the inhabitants from their imposing residences, such as the eerie Château Malreaux or the black stone fortress known as Bast Castle. Yet, the overall population numbers of Vjun remain lower when compared to other civilised worlds within this interstellar region. Few choose to live on a world where the air itself can feel oppressive and exhausting, where ancient cities are rumoured to have succumbed to strange plagues and mass psychosis. After all, the pull of Vjun appears as a siren song only to those that align with its own nature.
