Seamlessly integrating massive cities with pristine natural beauty, Nulan VI is an example of what can be achieved when a government takes the time to plan the expansion of urban infrastructure while taking advantage of and, in some cases, even enhancing the natural beauty of a planet. The planet’s development as the seat of a now-defunct system-wide government started over ten centuries ago when an extraordinarily successful pirate lord decided to become a legitimate businessman and philanthropist. Utilising the massive wealth he had accumulated over a lifetime of plunder as well as an iron grip on the Nulan system, he set about implementing a developmental programme that would make Nulan the most advanced region in the Hook Nebula while largely maintaining the idyllic appeal of his chosen capital, Nulan VI.

Boasting a gentle and forgiving environment with regular rainfall, abundant sunshine, and stable plate tectonics, Nulan VI is a fertile and fecund world originally covered in lush swathes of greenery, from towering forest giants that reached hundreds of feet into the air to vast plains of blue grass that stretched from horizon to horizon. The pirate lord, known only as Xayfod, brought in environmentally friendly architects, bio-engineers, horticulturists, and landscapers from across the galaxy to plan his retirement paradise. In his vision, Nulan VI would be transformed from a beautiful green paradise into an even more enchanting haven, blending mirror steel and glass with brilliant cerulean oceans and emerald forests.

Although little is known of Xayfod himself, his legacy remains. Instead of a typical, planet-enveloping city such as may be found on Coruscant, here nature emerges through the urban landscape. Instead of covering the oceans, massive cities float in place over them, designed with ample spaces between buildings to allow the sun to shine upon the water from dawn to dusk. Where forests and plains once were, massive skyscrapers, glittering stadia, and huge malls stand between large stretches purposefully left undeveloped so residents can listen to soothing birdsong while walking the streets. The occasional predation of a city’s residents by the remaining large carnivores in these wild patches is regarded as an unfortunate hazard of living in such an idyllic cityscape. Urban planners intentionally left a large tract of forest and jungle, collectively dubbed the Green Heart, protected and undeveloped to serve as the planet’s "lungs." This expanse of old-growth forest spans the planet from north to south and is home to many endemic species of mammal, bird, and reptile, such as rainbow-hued Brilliant Chickadees and glittering topaz crystal snakes.

The Arkanian Brotherhood continued this good work, maintaining environmentally friendly urban concepts and high-tech development, and reaped the benefits in terms of tourism and cultural evolution. With a twenty-four-hour day and an average temperature comfortable for almost all sentient species, Nulan VI looks set to remain an icon of ecological development far into the future.
