The Ord Canfre system contains only a single world orbiting the system's star - the planet Ord Canfre itself, a beautifully warm and temperate world that initially received little attention due to its remote location and somewhat diminutive size. Originally covered in dense forests, vast quantities of moisture are recycled through the canopy each day, shrouding much of the planet in heavy fog and persistent rainfall. From orbit, Ord Canfre appears almost entirely emerald in colour, broken only by a pair of massive rivers which, rather than being fed by seas or springs, receive their moisture exclusively from vast cloudbanks and atmospheric condensation drawn from the forests themselves.

Once covering over ninety percent of the planet’s surface, the forests of Ord Canfre possess a unique ecosystem seldom found anywhere in the galaxy. The subterranean fungus Neurohypha ordensis has been found in every root and soil sample taken within any forest across the planet. This fungal lattice stretches for thousands of kilometres, connecting every forest into a singular system. This unique ecosystem has drawn some of the galaxy’s most prominent xenobiologists to the planet, establishing multiple research facilities deep within Ord Canfre’s forests. The prevailing theory holds that this subterranean mycological network is capable of transferring vast quantities of organic information between forest systems, establishing an ecosystem able to respond rapidly to natural threats such as fire or bacterial infection. Defensive biological responses can be transferred across this network, providing an immune response with the entire weight of a planet behind it. Forests felled by fire have been regrown at rates exceeding natural growth by nearly a factor of ten.

Tying the entire planet together into a single entity, the mycological network is also a massive beacon for those attuned to the whills of the Force. Modern Force users have made a pilgrimage to Ord Canfre to meditate amongst the forests a new tradition, with several temples having been established and actively maintained across the planet. Some of the oldest temples on Ord Canfre, however, have been discovered to predate the High Republic, suggesting the planet has drawn in those sensitive to the Force for millennia. Connecting with the mycelium, Force users have reported shared visions, some being prophetic in nature and some revealing forgotten past events, suggesting it’s possible that the mycological lattice may also contain the planet's collective memory, capable of being accessed through deep meditation. While much of this network has now been compromised by rapid urbanisation, parts of the network still function as they have for millennia.

The planet is also host to a diverse population of Akk dogs, reptomammals found elsewhere sporadically across the galaxy. The Akk dogs of Ord Canfre have similarly found themselves symbiotically colonized by the Neurohypha fungus, with samples being found throughout Akk dog nervous systems. The fungus appears to have formed a symbiotic relationship with the Akk dogs, providing a connection to the planet itself. Akk dogs on Ord Canfre have an uncanny ability to track nearly any prey across the vast forests, operating as a pack with lethal efficiency and communicating tactics far more advanced than those of other observed species of Akk. As such, despite the planet's temperate and welcoming climate, travel across the remaining wilderness on Ord Canfre is considered hazardous. Visitors and pilgrims are encouraged to come well prepared for a hostile journey.
