Planet: Ord Trasi
Table of Contents [hide]

A pleasant celestial orb of towering spires and vibrant walkways, Ord Trasi is a heavily urbanised planet with a varied climate located within the Relgim sector of the Outer Rim Territories. The few stretches of untouched land hint at the composition of its surface in the distant past, long before its widespread urbanisation. Fields of rocky outcroppings and massive boulders still give shelter to endemic subspecies of scaly hawkbats and recently imported specimens of varactyls, while the world's deserts are the home of the remaining slashrats and womp rats. The uncovered areas, still vast in scale, include expansive riverine deltas that resemble freshwater seas, defying the traditional notion of rivers. These open expanses, though diminishing, hold significant size and importance. Despite the beauty of these natural habitats and the planetary government's efforts to protect them, the relentless expansion of population centres continues unabated as the planet's inhabitants multiply.

The planet Ord Trasi was settled during the Republic's rimward colonisation wave roughly thirteen thousand years ago, a couple of centuries before the inception of the Pius Dea Era. Due to its favourable and strategic position along the Braxant Run, the Coruscant-Dantooine hyperlane, and the Veragi Trade Route, the world was established as one of the Republic's Ordnance/Regional Depots, with significant economic backing from the banks and businesses on Muunilinst. In the centuries that followed, Ord Trasi and its two lunar companions became an important jump-off point for galactic explorers, who saw their orbital ship maintenance and repair facilities grow as time went on. As hyperlane traffic continued to increase through the Ord Trasi system, its orbital construction yards expanded in tandem until the planet's facilities became a major hub of ship construction in the region. As a result, Ord Trasi attracted the attention of many of the Republic's enemies over the centuries and suffered occupations from both Revan's Sith Order as well as the Sith Empire ruled by the legendary Sith Emperor Vitiate. Similarly, during the Clone Wars, the world's orbital shipyards became the target of several Separatist attacks, which the Republic managed to stave off each time. During the reign of the Galactic Empire, Imperial forces maintained a token presence within the system until they were pulled back when the Imperial regime lost much of its grip on the Outer Rim.

Ord Trasi is a friendly and pleasant world to live on both in terms of climate and environment as well as societal living conditions. Due to its status as an important trade hub along the hyperlanes that pass through the system, its inhabitants have always been open and tolerant of outsiders, which has attracted a variety of sentient species over the millennia. While Humans are still the largest demographic on the planet, they make up less than half of the total planetary population these days and are followed closely by communities of Duros, Nautolans, Togrutas, Chagrians, and Cathars, among others. The multicultural nature of this world's society is also visible within the planetary government, set up as an oligarchy with a state-owned economy, as representatives from several non-Human species hold a permanent seat on its governing council and represent their people’s communities on the planet.
