Planet: Besberra II
Table of Contents [hide]

Besberra II is a chilly planet located in the Besberra system of the Cegul sector. The planet itself is located farther away from the sun than it's sister planet and was actually overlooked by the explorer Richard Velser when he ventured to the system. The planet is rather cold, mostly having temperatures between -50 Celsius and 10 degrees, although it can reach up to 15 at the equator.

Located at the poles are ice caps, as expected. Here, temperatures soar well below negative fifty during the winter. The high winds also make this place highly hostile to any unprotected life. Neither vegetation nor animals are found in any abundance in this area, as it is nothing more than frozen water. However, it is believed that once, below the ice caps, were forests like the rest of the planet, that eventually became frozen over.

Despite being a cold planet, this planet is almost half covered by volcanic ranges. Everywhere on this planet are large volcanoes that spurt out lava and cover the area in magma and soot. Luckily, this is quickly absorbed in the atmosphere, creating a fresh and crisp atmosphere in the non-volcanic areas.

The planet also has huge forests that contain deciduous and coniferous trees. These forests span up to a hundred meters tall. They are filled with many life forms, mostly rodents and amphibians. The canopy however is filled with birds, mostly just herbivores though. On the forest floor, it is incredibly wet, as although the planet lacks any lakes or oceans, it has a huge moisture content. Thus the ground beneath the forest is nearly impassable, as it is completely saturated.

In the middle of the planet is a large grass field, which surprisingly is rather dry. This is due to the heat from the volcanoes centered around the middle of the planet, drying out the grass to a healthy water cycle. Here, life is very active, with many types of large mammals, mostly hoofed ones, as well as smaller rodents and a vast array of reptiles. These grass plains are home to some of the largest snakes in the galaxy, up to two meters thick and forty meters long, able to swallow a bantha whole. Even the odd tasty-looking freighter has been known to be swallowed by these animals, although a blaster shot or two would allow an easy escape.
