New Cov is a world with a large, dense jungle spanning the planetary equator. It is this vast stretch of verdancy that is one of the planet’s most notable features, as it is home to a plethora of flora and fauna that pose a significant threat to the global population. So much so that the citizens of New Cov were forced to build their cities beneath large bubbled domes to keep out the vicious predators and lethal plant life. Another significant feature of the planet's flora is that its vegetation is abundant in a specific type of biomolecule that makes the endemic plant life an excellent source for the biomolecular harvesting industry when properly culled. New Cov Biomolecule Company was one such business, which harvested the biomolecules for the production of medical, industrial, and military supplies, which they sold across the galaxy.
While a well-developed and relatively cosmopolitan planet, its natural dangers have led to a smaller population than other similar worlds. Nonetheless, New Cov has attracted sentients from all corners of the galaxy, with Humans forming the majority of the population, followed by minorities of Bothans, Twi’leks, Rodians, and Falleen, to name a few. The domed cities where "Covies" dwell are a marvel of architectural and technological design, and were largely inspired by the bubbled cities of Rodia, which similarly had to protect themselves against dangerous flora and fauna.
New Cov was located in Separatist space during the Clone Wars, albeit this was more by force than choice. During the war, the biomolecule harvesting operations conducted by the CIS threatened to destablise the planetary ecosystem, which was one of the reasons why the Republic had launched a massive liberation campaign nearing the end of the conflict. In the decades that followed, the planet was often the target of raiders and pirates that sought to claim the valuable biomolecules for themselves, until New Cov came under the protection of Centrepoint Station in recent times.
