Vizcarra II is a temperate planet located in the Vizcarra system of the Cegul sector. It is unique when compared to other bodies in the sector, particularly for the presence of its vast desert while oceans cover half of its surface. This contrast in terrains is due to cold streams in the ocean's water mass in the north, which prevents humid air flows from reaching the arid desert terrain. The desert is surrounded by chains of volcanoes, which stop the mass transportation of dust across the whole planet. However, erosion is taking its toll on the volcanoes, which are slowly falling apart and crumbling into the seas and their gradual disappearance has allowed the desert to grow.

The volcanoes are also responsible for stopping the spread of the large forests to the north and south as the jungle trees are unable to tolerate the higher temperatures caused by underground magma flows. Vizcarra II's most habitable areas are along the equator. Fertile grasslands thrived in this region and the planet's first human colonists chose it for their settlements. The lush vegetation was razed in many areas to make room for crops and eventually a healthy agrarian economy was established. The local citizenry is often described as "happy-go-lucky" and their positive attitude tended to be a draw for some tourists, encouraging the rapid growth of the modern megalopolis.
