Once home to one of the oldest communications stations in the Outer Rim Territories, Praesitlyn was known throughout the galaxy as a center of HoloNet traffic. Discovered during the First Galactic Survey, it served as a critical member of the Old Republic for millennia. The Senate of the Galactic Republic had commissioned the Praesitlyn government, which had competed against Sluis Van and Ryloth, to host the communications hub. The Praesitlyn Intergalactic Communications Center stood on Praesitlyn for over three thousand years, of course with renovations and overhauls every now and then.
The entire planetary economy revolved around the HoloNet hub. The owners of the station, PraeComm, and their parent company, PraeTech, held a considerable number of seats in the planetary assembly, and their CEO was well known as a close advisor of the governor. PraeTech seized the planetary government, dissolving its assembly and announcing the company CEO as the new planetary governor. When citizens protested, PraeTech called upon security forces who massacred several demonstrators before everyone fled. The beauty of Praesitlyn became tainted with corruption and largely fell out of the scope of galactic influence.
