The planet Ryoone is located within the Wazta sector of the Outer Rim, and is situated along the Koda Spur hyperlane. It is a grey and gloomy world, as its skies are covered with a near-perpetual cloud of ash and dust as a result of the towering volcanoes in the northern hemisphere spewing lava into the shallow sea from which they stem. Its native flora and fauna managed to adapt to the dismal conditions in large part by developing bioluminescent properties. Yet, even this fails to add a sense of charm or beauty to the ash-covered orb, and instead creates an eerie ambience during the nighttime. Despite these unpleasant conditions, Ryoone still managed to grow into a minor hub in terms of commerce and trade, even though it is overshadowed by nearby systems such as Hassaria and Wazta. As such, this world became a preferred waypoint for small-time traders and shippers, as well as volcanologists and adventurous sightseers.

While most planets in the galaxy see only one or two sentient species evolve upon its surface, Ryoone is home to as many as six native races of intelligent beings. While in the distant past this had led to many conflicts and inter-species wars, ever since being discovered by the galactic community the six peoples managed to find an equilibrium of societal harmony. Most members of each individual race still tend to reside within their ancestral homelands, but with each passing generation the cultural and racial differences between the natives of Ryoone are lessened. As a result, anti-alien policies have become a rare sight on the planet in recent centuries, while other races from across the Outer Rim have come to call this temperate orb their home as well.

The Lyunesi have become the most intergalactically engaged and visible of all six peoples from Ryoone. While their appearance might suggest that they are a frail species of humanoids, their intensely competitive nature and prime intellectual capacity for translation and body language interpretation have made them the most influential race on their homeworld. As such, many travellers and business folk venturing through the Wazta sector opt to take on members of the Lyunesi as their translators and guides, with some even claiming that members from this race are more reliable and effective than protocol droids.
