With the increase in space travel across the galaxy, there has been a continued and growing need for fast transports. Ship designers and manufacturers across the galaxy noticed the popularity of the YT series and rushed to bring their own inspired designs to the table, and the Muurian transport is an example of one such design. The primary goal of the designers was to address the light armaments on the YT series and allow the freighter the ability to respond appropriately to threats of any nature. As the design continued the Muurian became less and less a freighter and more a heavily armed corvette with a rather long list of abilities that give it specific advantages over many other transports in the galaxy. Due to its heavy armaments, namely two proton torpedo launchers and seven heavy lasers, the Muurian is able to present itself as a serious threat to small fighter groups and other light freighters alike.

They have been successfully used throughout the galaxy as troop transports, special operations vehicles, convoy security, or even just as a heavily armed freighter. One disadvantage to the Muurian however is the modest cargo area. It was decided by the Muurian's engineers that the space would be better used to house a secondary reactor in order to relieve some of the stress on the primary reactor. Most of the remaining space that remained was required for the proton torpedo storage, leaving a mere twenty tons for the operator of the vessel. That fact alone will eliminate captains that are serious about freight, while at the same time drawing those that are serious about security. The Muurian Transport continues to be one of the most heavily armed freighters in the galaxy, and the design is expected to continue to be popular well into the future.
