The Rebel camouflage belt is designed to complement the Rebel camouflage gear and helmet. Unlike many uniform belts, the camouflage belt is designed with wholly separate pouches spaced apart in order to prevent the items within from noisily jostling one another. While this design helps the wearer move quietly, it sacrifices carrying capacity in comparison to other uniform belts. Like the Rebel camouflage gear, the belt's pouches feature mottled color schemes. These are often mismatched in order to avoid creating a visual pattern. While colors vary depending on the deployment environment, most pouches are darker shades of the gear's overall color scheme in order to blend in with folds in the rest of the ensemble.

The belt itself is made from the same polyweave used in fighters for personnel or cargo restraints, while the pouches are made from semi-rigid spunplast, often found in boots. These materials are common yet durable, yielding a sturdy product that is easily mass produced. A polyweave loop on the back of each pouch secures it to the belt, but because this allows the pouches to dangle they may often snag on brush or foliage as the wearer moves. Most soldiers in the field address this issue by using local fibers to bind the pouches to a tighter fit, solving the "dangle" issue while adding another element to their camouflage. The camouflage belt's modular design allows the user to add or remove custom-fit pouches for a variety of implements, such as stuncuffs or small detonators. Because the Rebel camouflage gear and helmet deliberately omit built-in communications in order to minimize the user's electronic profile, most opt to include an easily removed comlink pouch. The separate comlink can be deactivated to avoid detection, or left active and discarded in its camouflage pouch (especially if mounted near the buckle) to mislead enemy searchers.
