The irony of this trophy is that it is an eye that has quite literally been snatched from the carcass of an eye-snatcher, a bird renowned for attacking and ripping out the eyes of it victims. A small orb approximately fifteen millimetres across, these trophies as frequently preserved in a brine or alcohol solution by those who value the trophy itself. In some primitive cultures, the superb vision of eye-snatchers is greatly respected, and eye-snatcher eyes are used in a number of folk preparations used to treat eye conditions. Examples of this includes dried and powdered eye-snatcher eyes mixed in a solution of vornskr urine, spring water, vinegar and poola blossom extract. The resulting liquid is strained through fine cloth, then dripped into the eyes of patients suffering from itchiness or blurred vision. Research into a number of these folk remedies is being carried out by several pharmaceutical companies, but as yet, no definitive results have been obtained.
