There are few flowers in the galaxy more beautiful than the Yavin Glowing Orchid. The orchid flower consists of five elliptical petals each between ten and fifteen centimetres long, and coloured a vibrant pink. Brilliant bands of crimson, mauve, lilac, purple and indigo form swirling patterns on the petals, and no two flowers are exactly alike. On top of this, the dorsal and lateral sepals are pale pink at the base darkening to ruby red at the tips. Microscopic crystals are embedded within the cells of the flowers, and when the moonlight hits them at the right angle, the flowers seem to glow with an inner light, becoming truly breathtaking. The rest of the plant is almost mundane by comparison, with a brown woody stem and a large cluster of aerial roots that hang down from the branches of massassi trees or other large trees that support these epiphytic orchids. Large, waxy deep green leaves grow from stem, each approximately thirty centimetres long with pale green longitudinal veins. Yavin Glowing Orchids are notoriously fickle and horticulturists may spend years attempting to get one to bloom in a greenhouse, making the flower exorbitantly expensive to purchase from the few specialty flower shops that are able to obtain or grow them.
