The beautiful, white Cloudflower was originally native to the planet Romin. The delicate, bell-shaped blossoms grow in bunches on dark green vines that have a remarkable growth rate. Scientists have recorded the vines growing at a rate of ninety centimetres in a twenty four hour period, as long as they get sufficient sunshine and water. Cloudflower leaves are palmately lobed, and between five and seven centimetres in length, darker green on the dorsal surface and almost lime green below. The flowers produce a nectar high in sugar content that is a favourite of butterflies, bees and a myriad of other insects, as well as sunbirds and hummingbirds. Using an ultraviolet light, a dazzling labyrinth pattern becomes visible on the petals. This serves as an additional visual cue for pollinators that can see into the ultraviolet spectrum. Once pollinated, the plant forms oblong fruit the size of limes that are exceedingly bitter but can be used to treat nausea and diarrhoea.
