Planet: Nar Kaaga
Table of Contents [hide]

Nar Kaaga is one of three planets in the system which orbit the namesake sun. It is an inhospitable, swampy, and cold planet ruled by two Hutt kingpins of the H'uun and Shell families. Coincidentally, the Noghri-owned company Tau Ekar Armaments earned a position on the planetary council by manufacturing customized durasteel repulsorlift cylinders and shell armour for the resident Hutts. The planet has survived mostly through trade via the Kaaga Run hyperlane route that connects sentients of all sorts to the Bothan Expanse.

Almost a quarter of the surface is covered in dense marshland, with varied landscapes from searing desert to thick jungle, rocky caverns and bombardment depressions from a great war long forgotten. The terrain diversity has allowed a huge abundance of native and foreign flora and fauna to adapt and flourish here. One of the larger of these is an omnivorous reptavian subspecies of pikobis birds that have been tamed and used as mounts by the indigenous population. The planetary magistrate hired a Chiss big game hunter to capture and introduce a pair of Aurean vultures to the local wildlife where they have proliferated since as a symbol of his household.

Geological pressure from the planetary core pushes lava up through the ancient war-torn crust where a volcanic torrent flows eastward along the fault line and into the great magma lakes. This has proven to be a boon for the local economy since rich deposits of ore are believed to be hidden within the deluge recesses. Crime boss Orko the Foultrader and other Triad members found a niche and struck a deal early on using aggressive trade negotiations with the Mustafarians. From that success, a lucrative lava skiff import business has grown based upon customer demands. As long as the miners, the foolhardy, the unsavory, and the lucky seek out valuable veins and molten minerals, local mining companies and merchants will thrive.

Since assuming power with the Hutts, the Noghri mercenary lord has maintained a web of spies and informants to keep himself abreast of potential threats to his power base. His handpicked henchmen police the citizenry and act as a militia alongside the established security forces. It is commonly known that pirate activity in the area is very high, suggesting a tacit agreement between the Triad and the pirates. Internally, the Hutt reign has become a little less oppressive and gloomy. But observers suggest that it is these condottieri who actually control the system and that the governing body exists only to serve their will.
