Tamra is much smaller and most of its orbit is some distance from its sister planet Tamra II. The planet's terrain is mostly arid desert, its freshwater stores are locked into the expansive glacier fields. The largest body of water on the planet, named the Sea of Durcell by early cartographers, is saline and completely land-locked. A network of over a hundred desalination plants, all owned by the Einez Cartel, produce the majority of drinkable water for the population. As a result of this monopoly, the Cartel is able to maintain considerable influence over planetary politics.

A mysterious, unnamed religious cult inhabits the swampland toward the southern pole of Tamra. Foreign intrusions into their dank wilderness tend to result in the gruesome deaths and cannibalization of any trespassers.
