Kiffex is a world with a dark history of conflict and incarceration. The world was historically used as a prison planet since the time of the Sith Empire, a practice continued by the Galactic Republic as early as the third millennium BCGT. This was perhaps less due to any intimidating geography, as it was with the inherently tribal and hostile nature of the native Kiffar, which would have ensured that any escapees would have met a swift and brutal end. While the prisons themselves are long gone, Force Sensitives will still be able to detect areas of Dark energy in these locales, caused by the anger, pain, and misery built up over many centuries. The rocky zones in the north and south of the planet are where most of the prisons once stood.

The planet orbits fairly close to the system's sun, resulting in an overall warm climate, although not hot enough to require protective gear. Rainfall is abundant, feeding numerous streams and rivers, most of which drain into the giant marshlands in the northern and southern polar zones. Interestingly, apart from these, Kiffex has no large bodies of water, the planet being dominated by circumglobal plains of short grass, which have served since time immemorial as the battlegrounds for the various tribes of Kiffar. These would leave their homes in the forests and jungles and engage in combat over whatever historical slights had been perpetrated by their ancestors, as well as to kidnap mates and slaves from other tribes. During the hot season, when Kiffex swings closer to the sun, many of the tribes would retreat up into the mountains to escape the heat, establishing temporary truces in order to cohabit for a few months. The mountains, with their high plateaus and fertile valleys, may be home to over sixty percent of Kiffex's population during the hot months.

Venya Karya Sunport is the major gateway to Kiffex, hosting the sole starport in the system. For millennia, arms runners and weapon salesmen alike have made their way to the port, bringing the instruments of death for which the Kiffar tribes hunger. There are few other urban centers on the planet, although a few historical tribal strongholds such as Mendiko Gotorlekua in the north and Basa Oihanak Gotorleku at the edge of the Wild Forest in the south draw the eye.
