Devon Four is a small world located in the habitable zone of its system’s star. Blessed with a gentle climate, abundant water and a singular lack of dangerous native wildlife, the planet is a haven for human and humanoid beings. It was located along the Relgim Run, which facilitated trade and colonisation. Despite this, relatively little attention was paid to the planet for many years, perhaps due to other, larger and more populous systems located along this hyperspace corridor. More recently, Devon Four became a haven for members of a peaceful religious sect, with members traveling from all over the Outer Rim to partake in the planet's serene and tranquil surroundings, which were ideal for contemplation and meditation.

This peaceful approach to life did not mean they were completely passive, however, as during the waning years of the Galactic Republic, with services and supplies from the wider Republic at an all-time low, the planet’s religious leaders ceased their tax payments to Coruscant. The usually torpid and moribund Senate acted with surprising vigour and ruthlessness, embargoing the planet and even denying vital medical supplies to combat a plague that broke out among the planet’s inhabitants.

Since the fall of the Republic, a new government has taken over, bringing significant development to Devon Four. Once pristine oceans, grasslands, and forests have been replaced by mega-cities and manufacturing centres. Much of the planet’s remaining native flora and fauna have been confined to the remaining areas of natural wilderness, which cover only twenty percent or so of the planet’s once lush surface. The fauna also has to compete with introduced wildlife and this has pushed many species to the edge of extinction. Only continuous conservation efforts have kept species like the Devon Striated Flying Squirrel and Zorrin Marsh Salamander from disappearing altogether.
