Few who tread upon the surface of Rintonne find themselves eager to leave, as the natural forested beauty of the planet is capable of enthralling most, if not all, sentients in the galaxy. Vast forestlands stretch across the two gargantuan continents that make up the world's primary landmass, surrounded by pristine deep blue oceans that glisten in the light of the planet's orange sun. It should come as no surprise that poets from across the Mid Rim have described the surface of the forest-world of Rintonne as "two glistening emerald gems encrusted within a sapphire ring", and made the world the backdrop of many of their sonnets and ballads.
The vast woodlands of Rintonne are nothing short of magical and ethereal. Its seemingly endless green canopy gives shelter to a myriad of lifeforms, such as fierce, reptomammalian akk dogs with their crystal-laced scales, or the bone-faced howlrunners that prowl the woodlands in packs for sustenance and shelter. The deeper parts of the planet's forests are home to more dangerous and aggressive fauna, such as the arachnid krykna, nesting beneath impressive and huge tree roots, or the greyhide gundark, a sub-species endemic to the forests of Rintonne with ashen-coloured skin.
Rintonne was discovered during a brief surge in interstellar exploration and colonisation roughly three thousand years ago. Shortly thereafter, the planet was settled by a number of disgraced noble houses from the Core and their retinues, who founded Rintonne's planetary monarchy. While initially an absolute form of government, the monarchy gradually became constitutional over the centuries, with a citizenry that grew to be highly involved in their world's politics. Several of the original noble families have held the throne of the forest-world over the millennia, with the current reigning dynasty being House Kastanovia. In recent times, the royal family has become the target of galactic gossip and hearsay, as rumour had it that one of its princesses had abandoned palace life in favour of becoming a freighter captain in the Outer Rim.
While Rintonne remained loyal to the Republic during the Clone Wars, the planet's government and people came to oppose the expansion of the Imperial axis of powers that followed. Fortunately, the world was spared from any major confrontations during the course of the Galactic Civil War, and its royal family eventually aligned Rintonne with the Falleen Federation, of which it became a full member. The planet has continued to grow and prosper ever since, attracting both tourists and new citizens from nearby planets and systems in the Mid Rim.
