The cargo canister, originally produced by Xizor Transport Systems, was built to provide an easy to use and modular method of organizing smaller loads of goods. The smallest of its class, this container was designed to hold any type of cargo, such as emergency supplies or family valuables.

Their use became wide-spread and cargo canisters eventually came to be standard on larger freighters, as the slim design allowed for easier stacking once inside a cargo bay. As time progressed, companies found increasingly diverse and intuitive advantages to their implementation.

Many organizations continue to make use of the tube-shaped design to transport parts, spice and illicit goods.
